The story begins during the Second World War, when Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie are sent away from London for their safety. The four children stay at the country home of Professor Kirke. While exploring the large house, Lucy discovers an old wardrobe that turns out to be an entrance to another world.
Beyond it lies Narnia, a beautiful but troubled land where animals speak and mythical creatures live alongside one another. Narnia has been trapped in an endless winter by Jadis, the White Witch. Lucy initially struggles to convince her siblings that the place is real, but eventually all four Pevensies enter Narnia together.
