Bodyguard of Lies is not a conventional war documentary focused mainly on combat. Dan Krauss instead investigates how the Afghanistan War was understood and explained inside government, comparing public narratives with private assessments collected over two decades.
Produced with Alex Gibney, Jigsaw Productions, Amblin Documentaries, See It Now Studios, and The Washington Post, the 90-minute film draws heavily from The Afghanistan Papers and other documentary evidence.
