Grease begins with Danny and Sandy enjoying a summer romance that both assume will end when Sandy returns home. Their plans change when Sandy remains in the United States and becomes a student at Rydell High School, where Danny is already a well known member of the T-Birds.
Sandy quickly becomes friendly with the Pink Ladies, while Danny tries to maintain his confident image around his friends. When the two unexpectedly meet again at school, Sandy finds that Danny behaves very differently around the T-Birds.
