Movie Story
Rather than concentrating on one battle or individual military unit, Bodyguard of Lies looks at the larger political and institutional story of the Afghanistan War from 2001 to 2021.
The film examines how officials publicly presented progress while private assessments sometimes described a much more difficult situation. It uses testimony from people who worked inside government and military institutions, along with records later made public, to trace how unsuccessful strategies continued for years.
